Monday morning notes

It's ULL week. But here's a few notes that didn't make Sunday morning papers.

***Troy's offense put up more than 500 yards of offense, but most of that seemed to come between the 20s. The Trojans had 3 turnovers and it wasn't the sharpest performance. Head coach Larry Blakeney, who said he listens to all the communication on the headsets, thought the Trojans got a little too greedy at times.

"I still don't think we're as good, maybe, as we've been especially offensively," Blakeney said. "We got to continue I think get better running the ball. I felt like we were impatient on everything. I just felt like we were a little bit greedy at times and impatient at times and that might have hurt us."

***Troy's defense had its best statistical game, giving up around 350 yards to UAB, which wasn't great offensively but had a plan and stuck to it. Still, it seemed like there were more missed tackles in this game than in the others.

"We had some problems, still missing tackles and I think we warmed up to tackling a little bit later in the game and we got better," Blakeney said. "Had the big punt return and I know we had one big early missed tackle on that one."

***Troy had two official visitors from Northwest Mississippi Community College - WR Lance Ray and DE Brandon Timmons. Timmons has already committed to Troy and is supposed to enroll in January. Elba wide receiver Michael Lindsey was on an unofficial visit and committed to Troy. There's only 2 JUCO commits right now, but expect that to change. Troy's going to have to get some impact JUCO guys at linebacker and on the defensive line before next season, especially at linebacker. Troy usually brings in 1-2 JUCO guys in the secondary as well.

***To catch up on ULL, HERE is the game story from The Advertiser in Lafayette on the recent win over FAU.

***Today is media day in Troy, so I expect to have some blog notes up late in the afternoon, and some twitter updates around 1 or 2 p.m. CST
